We do not provide direct compensation for tutors during idle periods. Our platform operates on a commission-based model, where tutors receive payment solely for the actual tutoring sessions they conduct. The reason for not providing compensation for tutors during standby periods is to ensure a fair and sustainable business model for both tutors and the company. By focusing on paying tutors solely for actual tutoring sessions, we are able to maintain a competitive commission structure that aligns with the value created. This approach allows us to attract a larger pool of potential students and maintain a balance between tutor availability and student demand. We believe this system ultimately benefits tutors by maximizing their earning potential through active tutoring engagements.

Availability Tips:

• You do not need to save or submit your availability. Once you select that day/time, it is saved and submitted automatically.
• If there are any issues, try adding one or just a few days at a time.
• Make sure the current day is deselected as it automatically selects that for you.
• Even so, if you’re still having problems, try refreshing the page and logging out and back in.

The necessity of having prepared materials for tutoring depends on the specific subject matter being taught and the students’ needs. While we recognize that different subjects may require varying levels of prepared materials, we generally expect tutors to be equipped with the necessary resources to effectively support their students’ learning needs.

For example, if you teach test preparation, we expect our tutors to provide students with the necessary materials. However, if you tutor a certain subject area such as Algebra 1, we expect the tutor to handle whatever content the student is currently struggling with. This may look like a student getting online for a session for help with their homework or study guide as they prepare for a test.

When students connect with a tutor through our platform, it’s important to recognize that their expectations can vary depending on their specific needs and goals. Our platform facilitates direct communication between students and tutors prior to a tutoring session, allowing them to discuss and align their expectations. This pre-session correspondence serves as a valuable opportunity for students to communicate their requirements and preferences to the tutor.

For instance, some students might seek immediate assistance for test or paper preparation, necessitating a focused and intensive session. In these cases, tutors are expected to provide guidance and support tailored to the student’s immediate study needs. On the other hand, students seeking ACT/SAT test preparation often anticipate tutors to furnish practice questions and study materials to enhance their exam readiness.

By encouraging communication and collaboration between students and tutors, our platform ensures that expectations are addressed and met to facilitate a productive and successful tutoring experience.

We believe that you should be paid at a higher rate commensurate with your qualifications. We appreciate your expertise and dedication to tutoring, and we value your contribution to our platform.

While we acknowledge your desire for higher pay, our platform has opted for a standardized rate for several reasons:

• It ensures fairness and accessibility for all students. By having a consistent rate across all tutors, we strive to create an equal opportunity for students to access quality tutoring services, regardless of their financial circumstances.
• It simplifies the booking process for students. It allows them to compare tutors and make informed decisions based on their preferences, without having to navigate through varying pricing structures. This uniformity streamlines the booking experience and encourages students to book sessions more easily.

However, we do want to emphasize that our platform provides tutors with the flexibility to maximize their earnings. Tutors can schedule sessions with multiple students concurrently. This approach enables tutors to increase their income by accommodating multiple students within a single time slot. By leveraging this feature, you have the opportunity to earn more per hour while helping multiple students simultaneously.
