Show compassion and empathy for yourself throughout the collegiate process.

Your dreams of being at the college of your choice are realized through arguably six years of work, starting in the 8th grade and continuing through the 12th. You’ve done a lot to get here, to this part of the “college application process,” so show yourself some care in this final part!
Take into consideration both your life experiences now and the possibility of your life experiences in the future during this time in your life. Missing or making prom can be life changing, as can homecoming, sports championships, debate tournaments, internships, and the lot. Prioritize what you value and make smart decisions during this time in all aspects: self-care, school, extra-curriculars, social media… Take time for rest, relaxation, friends, and fun through the continued work you do during your last year of high school.

Though, also try and take into account that this part, the part of writing your college apps, could largely determine and shape the course of the next four years of your life. You don’t have to sacrifice your mental health or your experience now for it, but keep that in mind as you go about your time putting in your college apps; and remember, take care during this time.
